Introduction

Thank you for choosing to be part of our community at Bachata Sensual Orlando (“Company”, “we”, “us”, “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy notice, or our practices with regards to your personal information, please contact us at info@bsolatindance.com.

When you visit our website and use any of our services (the “Services”), we appreciate that you are trusting us with your personal information. We take your privacy very seriously. In this privacy notice, we seek to explain to you in the clearest way possible what information we collect, how we use it and what rights you have in relation to it.

1. What Information Do We Collect?

Personal Information You Disclose to Us

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the website, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the website, or otherwise when you contact us.

Personal Information Provided by You. We collect names, email addresses, usernames, passwords, billing addresses, phone numbers, and other similar information.

Payment Data. We may collect data necessary to process your payment if you make purchases, such as your payment instrument number and the security code associated with your payment instrument. All payment data is stored by Stripe. You may find their privacy notice at stripe.com/privacy.

Social Media Login Data. We may provide you with the option to register with us using your existing social media account details, like your Google account.

Information Automatically Collected

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use or navigate the website. This information does not reveal your specific identity but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our website.

Biometric Information

If you choose to use our optional photo-matching feature (“Find Your Photos”), which helps you locate photographs of yourself from BSO events and activities, we collect and process biometric information. This includes a scan of facial geometry and a mathematical representation of your face (a “facial template” or “embedding”) derived from a selfie you provide and from photographs and videos taken at BSO events. This feature is optional and is described in more detail in Section 3 below.

2. How Do We Use Your Information?

We use personal information collected via our website for a variety of business purposes including:

  • To facilitate account creation and logon process
  • To manage user accounts
  • To send administrative information to you — product, service and new feature information and/or information about changes to our terms, conditions, and policies.
  • To protect our Services — as part of our efforts to keep our website safe and secure.
  • To fulfill and manage your orders — payments, returns, and exchanges.
  • To deliver services to the user — including class bookings, event tickets, and membership management.
  • To provide our optional photo-matching feature — to detect, match, and organize event photographs so that you and other attendees can find your photos (see Section 3).
  • To respond to user inquiries and offer support

3. Biometric Information and Facial Recognition

BSO offers an optional feature that uses facial-recognition technology to help attendees find photographs of themselves from BSO events. Your participation is entirely voluntary and is governed by the following:

  • Consent. We collect and process biometric information (facial geometry and facial-recognition templates or “embeddings”) only with your consent. For photographs in which you appear, this consent is provided through our Liability & Assumption of Risk Agreement at registration; to search for your own photos, you must additionally provide explicit in-feature consent before submitting a selfie.
  • Purpose. We use this information solely to detect, identify, organize, and match images so that you and other attendees can locate your photos. We do not use it for any other purpose.
  • No sale. We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric information, and we do not disclose it except to service providers acting on our behalf under confidentiality obligations, or as required by law.
  • Retention and deletion. We retain biometric information only as long as necessary for the photo-matching purpose, and in any event no longer than three (3) years after your most recent interaction with BSO (such as attending an event or class, making a purchase, or using your account), after which it is permanently deleted. You may withdraw your consent and request deletion of your photographs and/or biometric information at any time by contacting us at info@bsolatindance.com, and we will honor your request within a reasonable period.
  • Eligibility. The facial-recognition photo-matching feature is available only to individuals 18 years of age or older.
  • Security. Biometric information is stored using a reasonable standard of care appropriate to its sensitivity.

4. Will Your Information Be Shared With Anyone?

We only share information with your consent, to comply with laws, to provide you with services, to protect your rights, or to fulfill business obligations. We may process or share your data based on: consent, legitimate interests, performance of a contract, legal obligations, or vital interests.

5. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information. Biometric information collected for the photo-matching feature is retained only for as long as necessary to provide that feature, and in any event no longer than three (3) years after your most recent interaction with BSO, after which it is permanently deleted; it is also deleted upon your request.

6. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?

We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

7. What Are Your Privacy Rights?

If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can contact us using the contact information provided. Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases.

You can unsubscribe from our marketing email list at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the emails that we send or by contacting us.

If you have used our optional photo-matching feature, you may withdraw your biometric consent and request deletion of your biometric information at any time by contacting us at info@bsolatindance.com.

8. Do California Residents Have Specific Privacy Rights?

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes.
